Subtracting archetypal building down to basic lines and shapes. Simplifying the shapes of walls, roofs and floors to more interesting forms. From layered material, shapes emerge as non-structures but strangely recognisable as architectural forms. Utilising skip-waste and discarded construction & building materials SUBSTRATA attempts to extend geometric playfulness into layered objects of interest. Aesthetic art objects that combine material re-assembly with considered, technical understanding. Pushing through underlying shapes from old waste, sanded surfaces expose sympathetic landscapes for semi-house shapes to mysteriously sit.
Materials. Oil on canvas, timber, plywood, mdf, plasterboard, metallic paint, gold leaf, galvanised metal.
